# Can the Perplexity API return search results separately from its answer?

I’m looking at Perplexity for a research app and would rather not treat the generated response as the only useful output. Can the API provide **raw search results**—such as individual URLs, titles, or snippets—in a structured form separate from the written answer?

The distinction matters for a workflow that needs to store and display sources independently. If you’ve integrated it, which response fields are available for that, and do they vary by endpoint?
