# When I replace a Claude Project file, will old chats use the new version?

I keep [reference documents](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/162180/data-modeling-in-cosmos-db-when-to-embed-vs-reference-documents) in a Claude Project and sometimes replace one after it has been updated. If I continue an older chat in that Project, does Claude use the current file, or could the conversation still be relying on information from the earlier version?

How do you handle revised documents in Projects when accuracy depends on everyone using the latest copy?
