# Can Claude remember preferences across new chats, and can I review that memory?

I’m curious how Claude handles personal preferences between separate conversations. If I’ve asked it to keep answers brief in one chat, should I expect that preference to carry into a new one, or does it depend on a particular memory or personalization setting?

Also, is there a place to inspect or clear anything Claude has retained? I’m looking for the distinction between an instruction saved in my account and context that only exists in one conversation.
