# Can the OpenAI audio API label different speakers in a two-person recording?

I’m looking at transcribing a recorded interview where both people speak naturally and sometimes interrupt each other. Can the OpenAI audio API return useful **speaker labels** as well as the transcript, or would I need a separate diarization step?

If you’ve tried this with real recordings, I’d be interested in how it handles short interjections and speakers with similar voices.
