# Does Perplexity distinguish a page’s publication date from its update date?

I’ve seen web pages where the visible date is the latest update, even though the underlying report was published much earlier. When Perplexity cites one of these pages, is there a way to tell which date it is using?

This matters for topics where the timing of a source changes how I read a claim. Do the citations or source previews make the original publication date clear, or do you usually have to open the page and check manually?
