# Can an interrupted OpenAI streaming response be resumed without starting over?

I’m building a chat interface with the OpenAI API and trying to handle unreliable connections gracefully. If a stream drops halfway through a response, is there a supported way to resume that same response from where it stopped, or does the client need to start a new request?

I’m especially curious whether any response or event identifiers help here, and how people avoid showing duplicate text if they retry.
