# Can Perplexity distinguish primary studies from review articles?

When I use Perplexity to look into a health or science question, the results can include original studies, review papers, and news coverage all together. Can it reliably distinguish a **primary study from a review article** when summarizing the evidence?

I’m not looking for medical advice—just trying to understand what kind of source each citation represents before I follow up. Do you ask for source types explicitly, and does that make the answer easier to assess?
