# How should a DeepSeek API client handle malformed tool-call arguments?

I’m experimenting with tool use through the DeepSeek API and wondering how other developers handle responses where a tool call is present but its arguments don’t match the expected JSON shape. Do you treat that as a failed turn, retry with a repair prompt, or validate and ask the model to try again?

I’d like to hear how people make **tool call arguments** safe to pass into an application, especially when a malformed response could trigger a real action rather than just produce an error on screen.
