# When do updated files become available across Claude Project chats?

I use a Claude Project for work that spans several chats, with shared notes and reference documents in its knowledge. If I replace one of those files, should I expect every existing chat in the Project to use the new version, or can an older conversation keep relying on what it had already read?

I’m trying to avoid quietly getting answers based on stale **project knowledge files**. If you’ve tested this, did you find a reliable way to confirm which version Claude is using?
