# How should I set image detail for screenshots with tiny UI text in the OpenAI API?

I’m sending app screenshots to the OpenAI API to ask about settings and error messages, but the important labels are often small. What’s a sensible way to choose the image detail setting for this kind of input?

I’m especially curious whether higher detail reliably helps with **small interface labels**, or whether cropping a relevant section first is usually more useful. If you’ve tested this on dense dashboards or mobile screens, I’d be interested in what worked for you.
