# How should I judge Perplexity citations when a source is paywalled?

Perplexity sometimes cites a publication where I can only see the headline and a short preview. The answer may be accurate, but I can’t tell whether the cited page supports the specific claim or whether the useful detail came from another source.

How do you assess **paywalled source citations** in that situation? Do you treat them as pointers to check elsewhere, look for a public version of the same reporting, or use a different research workflow when the underlying article isn’t accessible?
