# How does Perplexity handle conflicting figures from different sources?

When I ask Perplexity for a statistic, I sometimes see sources that give noticeably different figures—for example, estimates published in different years or using different definitions. The answer may cite both, but it isn’t always clear to me whether the numbers are actually comparable.

Is there a good way to prompt Perplexity to surface that disagreement and explain what each source is measuring, rather than choosing one figure? I’d be interested in examples from research or current-affairs questions.
