# When Claude reads a PDF, can it interpret the charts as well as the text?

I’ve been asking Claude to summarize reports that contain charts, and I’m not sure whether its comments are based on the chart itself or just the surrounding text and captions. That distinction matters when the chart carries the main point, such as a trend line or a comparison between groups.

For **Claude PDF chart analysis**, what’s been reliable in your experience? Do you upload the original PDF, provide screenshots of key pages, or check the chart interpretation another way?
