# Does the OpenAI API preserve dependencies between parallel tool calls?

I’m testing an OpenAI API workflow where the model can call more than one tool in a turn. Some calls are independent, but others depend on the result of an earlier lookup—for example, fetching an order before checking its delivery status.

How should an application handle **parallel tool calls** when the operations have dependencies? Does the model reliably indicate which calls can run together, or should I disable parallel calls and manage the order myself?
