# Do updated files in a Claude Project affect conversations already in progress?

I use a Claude Project with reference documents that change every few weeks. If I replace one of those files while I already have a long conversation open, will Claude use the updated version in that conversation, or should I start a new chat to avoid relying on stale information?

I’m especially curious about how **Project knowledge files** behave when a chat is already underway. Has anyone tested this with a document that changed in a meaningful way?
