# Are OpenAI API rate limits shared across models in the same project?

I’m trying to plan request traffic for an app that uses more than one OpenAI model. Are **OpenAI API rate limits** usually tracked separately for each model, or can heavy use of one model affect the capacity available to another in the same project?

If the answer depends on the account tier or model family, I’d be interested to hear how people monitor this in practice and avoid unexpected throttling.
