# Does ChatGPT Memory still affect a conversation after I switch to Temporary Chat?

I’m trying to understand what the **Temporary Chat setting** actually changes. If ChatGPT has already saved a memory about my preferences, can that information still shape replies in a temporary conversation, or does the setting keep saved memories out as well?

I’m not asking about whether the temporary chat itself gets saved to history; I’m specifically curious about what context the model can use while replying. Has anyone tested this with a preference that would be easy to spot?
