# Do Perplexity Spaces instructions apply to both uploaded files and web searches?

I’m setting up a Perplexity Space for a research project with a few [uploaded documents](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/95080/why-are-documents-uploaded-into-a-pdf) and regular web searches. I’d like it to use the same rules for both—for example, prefer official sources and flag claims that aren’t supported by the files.

Do Space instructions seem to carry through consistently when a response combines uploaded material with [web results](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/162401/can-grok-filter-web-search-results-by-date-range), or do you have to spell out the rules again in each question?
