# Are DeepSeek API tool-call arguments safe to parse while they stream?

I’m building a client that consumes DeepSeek API responses as they arrive, and I’m not sure how to handle tool calls before the stream is complete. Can the **streamed tool-call arguments** arrive in partial pieces that are not valid JSON until later?

If so, should the client buffer each tool call and parse it only after the finish signal, or is there a reliable way to process arguments incrementally without accidentally invoking a tool with incomplete input?
