# Can Perplexity keep a custom date range active through follow-up searches?

I’m researching a topic where the timeframe matters, and I want to narrow the search to a specific period rather than mix older background pages with recent updates.

If I set a custom date range in Perplexity, does that restriction carry over when I ask follow-up questions, or does each new query start with its own search scope? I’m trying to understand how much context I need to repeat to keep the results within the same dates.
