# Can Perplexity prioritize primary sources without choosing every source by hand?

For research questions about regulations, product specifications, or public statements, I’d rather see original documents than pages summarizing them. Is there a way to ask Perplexity to favor **[primary sources](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/162463/can-perplexity-help-separate-primary-regulatory-sources-from-commentary)** across a search, without manually selecting sources one at a time?

I’m curious whether a clear instruction in the question is enough, or whether people still need to check the citations individually to make sure the answer isn’t leaning on commentary or reposts.
