# What should I check before redistributing a fine-tuned DeepSeek model?

I’m considering fine-tuning a DeepSeek model for an internal tool, and there’s a chance we may later share the weights with customers or publish them. I don’t want to assume that being able to download a model means every version can be modified and redistributed under the same terms.

For people who have shipped or shared a derivative, what did you verify about the specific model version, its license, and any attribution or redistribution conditions? I’m particularly interested in the difference between using a hosted service and distributing **fine-tuned model weights**, and whether the base model’s terms affect the derivative.
