# Can Claude cite exact passages when several uploaded policy documents disagree?

I use Claude to compare internal policy documents, and the tricky cases are the ones where two documents say slightly different things. A summary that sounds confident isn’t enough for review; I need to see which exact passage supports each claim and know when the files conflict.

What prompting or document setup has worked for getting **exact supporting passages** rather than broad references to a whole file? I’m also interested in whether people ask Claude to quote page numbers or section headings, and how they handle an outdated policy alongside a newer one. I’m looking for a dependable way to check **conflicting policy documents**, not just a polished summary.
