# Does Claude keep project preferences separate from general memory?

I use Claude for both personal tasks and a few separate work projects. If I teach it a preference in one context—say, how I want code reviews formatted—will that carry over elsewhere?

I’m trying to understand whether **project-specific preferences** stay isolated from general memory, or whether I should restate important instructions in each project to avoid surprises.
