# Can OpenAI Structured Outputs stream before the full schema is complete?

I’m building a chat interface that streams responses, and I’m considering OpenAI Structured Outputs for messages that must match a JSON schema. What happens while the response is still arriving? Can a client safely parse partial output, or should it wait until the stream finishes before treating the result as valid?

I’m especially interested in how people handle arrays or nested objects that are incomplete mid-stream without showing broken JSON to users.
