# How does Perplexity avoid treating syndicated copies as separate sources?

I’m using Perplexity to research a recent story and noticed several citations that appear to repeat the same reporting. Some outlets may have written their own pieces, while others seem to be carrying an article from the same wire service.

Is there a way to tell whether the cited pages represent genuinely independent reporting, rather than multiple versions of one source? I’d like to understand how people judge **independent reporting among citations** before relying on a source count as evidence that a claim has been widely confirmed.
