# Can Claude give dependable page-number citations from uploaded PDFs?

I use Claude to ask questions about long reports, but I need to be able to check the answer against the source. How dependable are its page-number citations when the document is an [uploaded PDF](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/162136/why-does-gemini-hallucinate-when-answering-questions-about-an-uploaded-pdf)?

Does the result change much with scanned pages, printed page numbers that differ from the PDF viewer count, or documents with two columns? I’d like to know what people have found before relying on citations in a review workflow.
