# Can Claude Code avoid generated files when working in a monorepo?

I’m trying Claude Code on a monorepo with a lot of generated output mixed in with the source. I’d like it to inspect and edit the application code, but leave build artifacts, snapshots, and generated clients alone unless I explicitly ask.

What’s the most reliable way to set that boundary? I’m curious whether people handle this through repository instructions, ignore files, or by reviewing every proposed change. In particular, does Claude Code respect rules about **generated files** consistently when a task spans several packages?
