# What happens to files uploaded in Grok chats after the chat is deleted?

I sometimes upload work screenshots to Grok to ask a quick question, then delete the conversation once I’m done. Does deleting a chat also remove its [uploaded files](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/162376/can-perplexity-answer-from-uploaded-files-only) from the account, or are those handled separately?

I’m trying to understand what a user can actually control here, especially for files that may contain internal project details. Has anyone found a clear explanation in the product settings or documentation?
