# How can I tell whether DeepSeek dropped earlier context in a long chat?

In a long DeepSeek conversation, it sometimes feels as though the model has lost an earlier constraint or detail. I can’t tell whether I phrased the original request poorly, the useful part got buried, or the conversation has simply grown too long.

What do you look for when diagnosing this? I’m interested in ways to check whether **early conversation context** is still being used, especially in a **long DeepSeek chat** that builds on decisions made many turns earlier.
