# Does the DeepSeek API keep conversation history, or should my app resend it?

I’m building a chat feature with the DeepSeek API and trying to decide how to manage previous turns. Does the API offer **server-side conversation state**, or should my application send the relevant message history with every request? I’d also like to know how people handle longer chats without letting the prompt grow indefinitely or accidentally dropping context the model still needs.
