# Does Claude treat blank spreadsheet cells as zero when explaining a formula?

I’m asking Claude to explain formulas in a workbook, but some of the sheets have empty cells mixed in with zeros and missing values. Can it reliably tell those cases apart, or might it assume a blank means zero when describing the result? I’m especially interested in whether there’s a good way to ask about **blank cells as zero** without having to manually spell out every relevant range.
