# When Perplexity cites a page, has it read the full article or just a snippet?

I’ve noticed that a cited page doesn’t always seem to support the specific detail in Perplexity’s answer. That leaves me wondering whether it accessed the full article, only a search-result snippet, or some cached version of the page.

Is there a way to tell what content Perplexity actually used for a citation? I’d be interested in how others verify a source when the page is paywalled, recently updated, or only partly visible without an account.
