# Can Perplexity compare an old privacy policy with the version available today?

I’m trying to find out what a software vendor changed in its privacy policy over the past year. Perplexity can discuss the current policy, but that doesn’t establish what the earlier wording actually said.

### The dates are confusing

The live page has an effective date, an archived copy has a capture date, and a company announcement mentions another rollout date. Those may describe different events.

For a **privacy policy version comparison**, should I provide both texts myself, or can Perplexity reliably locate and inspect the archived version? If an archive link is discoverable but its contents aren’t accessible, I’d want that limitation stated rather than a comparison inferred from search snippets.

I’m looking for added, removed, and materially changed passages, with quotations from each version. How would you frame the request so it distinguishes an actual wording change from a claim about when that change took effect?
