# Can Grok distinguish a current service outage from recycled complaints on X?

When a cloud service starts acting up, I sometimes ask Grok what people on X are reporting. A busy search result isn’t necessarily evidence of a widespread outage, though: several posts might quote one complaint, and an older incident can suddenly get shared again.

I’d like a summary of **independent outage reports**, not just a count of posts mentioning the provider.

- How should I specify the incident window and time zone?
- Can I ask it to separate original reports from replies, quotes, and reposts?
- What evidence would justify calling the issue regional rather than affecting only one customer?

An official status page may still say everything is operational. In that situation, what should a useful Grok response show so I can judge the uncertainty myself? Links and timestamps seem essential, but I’m unsure how much can reasonably be inferred about scope from public complaints.
