# Can I keep my own website out of Perplexity competitor research?

I’m researching how competing software products describe their features. Our own website already has several comparison pages, and I don’t want those pages feeding back into the research as if they were independent evidence.

Can Perplexity reliably exclude a domain for an entire research conversation, or does that depend on the mode and controls available in the account?

> The goal is competitor research without using our website, its subdomains, or copies of our comparison articles.

I’m also unsure how to audit this. Not seeing our domain in the citations would not necessarily tell me whether a syndicated copy influenced the answer.

If you use Perplexity for market research, how do you handle source exclusions? Is there a meaningful difference between asking it not to *cite* a site and asking it not to *use* that site?
