# Can Perplexity format research citations in Chicago style?

I use Perplexity to gather sources for research notes, but I still have to clean up the references before sharing them. Can it produce citations in [Chicago style](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/63903/the-ultimate-guide-to-citing-sources-in-chicago-style) consistently, including the details needed for a bibliography?

If you’ve tried this, I’d like to know whether it’s better to ask for a specific citation format in the prompt or export the source details and format them separately. I’m mainly interested in avoiding citations that look right but are missing publication dates or other key information.
