# Do Perplexity Space instructions apply to every follow-up question?

I’ve added preferences to a Perplexity Space, but I’m not sure how consistently they carry through a long thread. Do **Space instructions on follow-up questions** apply every time, or can they get lost when the conversation shifts to a related subtopic?

If you’ve tested this, I’d be interested in examples of instructions that held up well over several follow-ups—and whether starting a fresh thread inside the same Space behaves differently.
