# Can Claude Desktop use separate MCP permissions for different workspaces?

I use Claude Desktop for both personal experiments and work, and I’m trying to avoid giving every conversation access to the same tools. Is it possible to configure **MCP server permissions per workspace**, or are the available servers effectively shared across the app?

I’m interested in what people do to keep a work-only server, such as an internal file search, away from personal projects without constantly changing configuration by hand.
