# Do Claude Projects pick up changes when I replace an uploaded file?

I keep reference documents in a Claude Project, and some of them get revised every few weeks. If I replace an uploaded document with a newer version, will chats in that Project use the updated file right away, or can an existing conversation keep relying on the old contents?

I’m trying to figure out whether it’s better to update the file in place, remove and re-upload it, or start a fresh chat after making changes. What has worked for people maintaining project documents over time?
