# Which Grok API rate-limit headers should a client actually trust?

I’m adding retries and backoff to a client that calls the Grok API, but I’m not sure which rate-limit signals are available or dependable. Are reset times and remaining-request counts exposed in response headers, and do they apply consistently across endpoints?

If you’ve built a production client, I’d appreciate examples of how you distinguish a temporary rate limit from a quota or billing problem. I’d rather not guess based on the error message alone.
