# Do Claude Projects pick up updated knowledge files in existing chats?

I use a Claude Project with a handful of reference documents, and some of those files change regularly. If I replace an older file, will an already-open conversation use the updated version, or could it keep relying on information it saw earlier?

I’m trying to work out a sensible routine for **Claude Project knowledge files** without starting a fresh chat every time a policy or product document gets revised. Has anyone tested how updates behave across existing and new conversations?
