# Does Perplexity keep earlier constraints in a long research thread?

I often start a Perplexity thread with a few boundaries—recent sources only, focus on a particular region, or exclude a certain kind of result—and then ask several follow-up questions. I’m not sure how consistently those constraints carry forward once the thread gets long.

Have you found that you need to restate your requirements with each follow-up, or does Perplexity usually keep the original scope in view?
