# How cautious should you be with Claude Code’s permission prompts?

I’m considering using Claude Code on a real project, but I’m not sure what a sensible approval routine looks like. Some actions are easy to judge from the prompt; others may touch files or run commands whose effects aren’t obvious at a glance.

How do you handle **Claude Code permission prompts** without either approving everything automatically or slowing down for every harmless step? I’d be interested in habits that have worked for people using it in existing repositories.
