# When should a team use AI instead of ordinary automation?

My team is reviewing a few internal workflows, and there’s pressure to add AI wherever it might save time. Some tasks are predictable enough for a script or a form, while others involve messy text that changes from one case to the next.

How do you decide whether a workflow actually benefits from an AI model, rather than a simpler rule-based tool? I’m interested in the practical signals you look for—especially around error handling, review effort, and whether the task is consistent enough to automate without AI.
