**Beaconing** is a process that allows a network to self-repair network problems.

In other words to define the Beaconing, it is a technique used on token-passing networks for monitoring the status of the token-passing process. And the beaconing is generally used in **[TokenRing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Token_Ring)** & **FiberDistributedDataInterface(FDDI)** networks to ensure that token passing is functioning properly.
