**Bounce [rate](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/105055/how-to-use-the-rate-of-change-indicator)** in SEO refers to the percentage of visitors who land on a webpage and leave without interacting with any other pages on the website. In other words, it measures how many users "bounce" away after viewing only a single page.

A high bounce rate can indicate a few potential issues, such as:

1. **Irrelevant Content**: The page might not be providing the information users expected, causing them to leave quickly.
2. **Poor User Experience**: Issues like slow loading times, difficult navigation, or unattractive design can make visitors leave.
3. **Unclear Call to Action (CTA)**: If the page doesn’t guide users to the next step or provide clear options, they may leave without engaging further.
4. **Misleading Search Results**: If a page title or description in search results doesn’t match the content, users may leave right away after clicking.

However, a high bounce rate isn’t always negative. For example:

- **Single-page websites** (like blogs or portfolios) may naturally have a higher bounce rate, as users might find what they need on that one page.
- **Long-form content** or highly specific information can lead to users finding answers quickly and leaving without needing to visit other pages.

In SEO, a high bounce rate can negatively impact your rankings if it suggests that users are not finding your content useful, which signals to search engines that the page may not be relevant. Conversely, a low bounce rate often signals that visitors are engaged and exploring more pages on your site, which is favorable for SEO.
