# How to Recover or Reset Outlook.com password?

For any [reason if](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/96280/what-would-be-the-reason-if-you-can-not-connect-to-skype) you forget your Outlook.com password or for security reasons or if you think that your Outlook account has been hacked or simply if you want to recover or [reset your](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/50481/how-to-restart-or-soft-reset-your-iphone-x) Outlook.com password then you can do so by following below steps:

First, go to the Reset your password page.

Then choose the reason because of which you need your [password reset](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/160825/why-am-i-not-receiving-the-password-reset-email-in-mindstick-training) and then click Next.

Here you need to enter the [email address](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/33871/how-to-validate-email-address-in-javascript) you used when you made your Outlook account.

Enter the [characters](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/42112/who-is-the-originator-of-avengers-characters) you see on the screen (this lets us know you’re not a robot) also [known as](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/35703/ricky-ponting-is-also-known-as-what) a captcha, then click Next.

If you have security info on [your account](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/93286/what-are-the-benefits-after-upgrading-your-account), [Microsoft](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12301/microsoft-is-trying-to-kill-passwords) or Outlook will send a one-time code to the alternate phone number or email address you provided [while creating](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/105382/which-constraints-we-can-use-while-creating-a-database-in-sql) your Outlook account or at a later stage. After you enter that code that you received on your password recovery phone or email id on the next screen, you'll be able to make a new password.
