Do you want to extend the range of your [wireless network](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/158544/what-are-the-steps-involved-in-conducting-a-wireless-network-security-assessment)? Of course, new [extender setup](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/23243/complete-troubleshooting-tips-for-belkin-n300-range-extender-setup) is the ultimate way for this. But what [if you don](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/159346/how-is-the-exception-handled-if-you-don-t-catch-it)’t want to do so or don’t have enough money to buy a brand new extender? Well, we have a solution to this problem as well. You can expand both the range [as well as](https://www.mindstick.com/interview/2481/can-you-write-a-java-class-that-could-be-used-both-as-an-applet-as-well-as-an-application) the maximum number of [connections](https://yourviews.mindstick.com/view/87707/baba-siddique-murder-news-his-connections-with-underworld) which your [internet](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/44650/what-should-you-do-during-an-internet-outage) can handle by connecting two routers with one another. It is very easy to [connect two](https://answers.mindstick.com/qa/50257/what-would-you-use-to-connect-two-computers-without-using-switches) routers. Just read our full post and find out how to do so.

You can connect two routers using Ethernet. Follow the below-given simple instructions:\

\
**1. Select which router will be the main router**\
This is the router that is connected to either to a wall socket or a dedicated modem. Usually, you will look for the newest and full-fledged router as your base router. In the case of two same routers, it hardly matters which one you select.\
**2. Determine the secondary router** \
It is the router that will extend the existing signals. In this case, most of the users prefer to use an older router. If you create a LAN-to-WAN network, the router will manage the secondary network. \
Quick Tip: Most of the routers have 192.168.1.250 as the default IP address.\
**3. Place both routers near your PC**\
During the initial mywifiext.net setup for extender, you can place the router at a central location. It is suggested to keep both of the routers near your computer so that you can easily access them. After the setup, you can put the router at the desired location.\
**4. Difference between LAN-to-WAN and LAN-to-LAN connection**\
Though you can make use of an Ethernet cable for both of these connections, they are used for different purposes. LAN-to-WAN creates a second network inside of the main network, letting you place limitations on any smartphones, computers or other devices which are connected to it. These networks are not used to share files. \
On the other hand, LAN-to-LAN network expands your WiFi range to include the second router. It can also be used to share files between network-connected smartphones, tablets, computers and more.\
**5. Perform the initial router setup**\
Use an Ethernet cable and connect the main router to your modem. After that, take another cable and connect the router to your computer. Open mywifiext.net login page and enter the correct username and password. If your PC doesn’t have Ethernet ports, you can purchase an Ethernet to USB adapter. \
In case you face any issue while accessing mywifiext, you can get mywifiext.net support from one of our certified technicians. \
**6. Configure your router**\
Given that this router is handling the connection to the internet, set it up as if you are using only a single router. You can access most of the routers with the help of their IP address. Each router’s settings are different from one another. If you are using a Netgear router, it is better to check the Netgear WiFi range extender manual first.\
**7. Modify the DHCP settings**\
In case you create a LAN-to-WAN network, access the router’s user GUI page and set the DHCP service to a particular IP address. Once the router configuration completes, disconnect the computer from your router.\
8. Configure the second router\
Disconnect the first router from your PC and connect the second one. After that, open the router’s admin page i.e. mywifiext.net local for Netgear devices. Match its IP address with the first one. Make sure to turn off UPnP on the second router if there is an option.\
**9. Change the wireless channel**\
In case both of the routers are wireless, you have to manually set the channels to save the router from interferences. To get the job done, set the router to 1, 6 or 11 channels. If you own a Netgear extender, you can change the wireless channel through Netgear genie setup.\
**10.Connect the routers**\
Now, put both of the routers to a neat and clean place. Connect both of the routers carefully. Plug one end of Ethernet cable to primary router while the other end into secondary router.\
And there you are! The routers have been connected properly. Enjoy your extended network. For any queries or suggestions, grab the comments section below.\
