# How to Set up Alexa App

Alexa App setup can complete within minutes. You can use the Alexa app and enjoy exciting features. But, one important thing that you need to consider, you need to follow the **Setup Alexa App** instructions carefully otherwise you can face issues in the setup process.

Before setup, check that you have the [latest version](https://www.mindstick.com/forum/159157/what-is-the-latest-version-of-c-sharp) of the Alexa app in your device's [app store](https://www.mindstick.com/news/2221/apple-s-new-ad-tax-on-the-app-store-is-a-clear-jab-at-meta).

To download the Alexa app, go to the app store on your [mobile device](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/12967/portable-reporting-systems-and-mobile-device-management) and search for "Alexa app." Then select and download the app.

**Turn on Amazon Echo (1st [Generation](https://www.mindstick.com/blog/300788/why-is-heart-attack-increasing-in-the-younger-generation)).**

Plug the included power adapter into Amazon Echo (1st Generation) and then into a power outlet. The light ring on Amazon Echo (1st Generation) turns blue, and then orange. When the light turns orange, Amazon Echo (1st Generation) greets you.

**Connect Amazon Echo (1st Generation) to a Wi-Fi [network](https://www.mindstick.com/articles/13122/an-introduction-to-network-cables).**

Follow the guided instructions in the app to connect Amazon Echo (1st Generation) to a Wi-Fi network. **Talk to Alexa.**

You can now use your Echo device. To get started, say the "wake word" and then speak naturally to Alexa. Your Echo device is set to respond to the wake word "Alexa" by default, but you can change it at any time. To change the wake word by voice, you can say, "Change the wake word."
